“I was feeling so apprehensive about returning to the gym following lockdown and such a long period of no training. I was facing a total lack of motivation and needed a proper workout routine, which are things I've always struggled with. I’m surprised in how much I’ve enjoyed all of our sessions, I found with my previous PT that I didn’t enjoy every session due to a dislike to their particular training style (I hate Burpees :)).

Even though my goals were to build muscle and tone my actual favourite result so far is noticing the steady increase in the weights I can lift while maintaining proper form and being able to see when this isn’t quite right. It always terrified me to train in the heavier weight section by myself but now I feel completely confident in doing so! Training with you has given me a massive confidence boost and also structure to workout routine with a willingness to continue training, even after another lockdown and another period of not training.

“Starting out I was feeling nervous as it had been a long time since I had done any structured exercise. I had gained a lot of weight over lockdown which made me feel even more self-conscious about getting back in the gym. I was worried about my ability and feeling like I couldn’t do it. But Niamh made me feel comfortable straight away. She explained the exercises well and made me feel more relaxed.

Weight loss was my main goal which I have achieved but still on a weight loss journey not at my goal weight yet. I am happier with my appearance, feel and look better.

I have osteogenesis imperfect my bone density is abnormal but I recently had a bone density scan which was much improved from my last and within normal range and my doctor said this is probably due to weightlifting. I can now lift weights and I am no longer afraid to enter the weights section in the gym. My cardiovascular ability has also much improved and I regularly go running now when I would never have done that before.

I enjoy exercise now and it is part of my normal routine. I am living a more healthy balanced life overall. Also the fact you researched into ontogenesis imperfecta and made changes to posture in certain exercises to suit me better made me so happy. Niamh is a great personal trainer and taught me a lot for somebody who was completely a beginner to weight lifting and I now regularly go to the gym and enjoy lifting weights. Niamh made me feel comfortable throughout or sessions and pushed me to reach my goals. I really liked the fact that we were able to chat throughout the session which made me feel more comfortable and less self-conscious. She helped me to enjoy exercise again and I now live a much healthier life because of that.”
